**statistically significant
WOMAC score = standardized questionnaire for determining the condition of patients with osteoarthritis
VAS score = visual analogue scale for determining the degree of pain
LEQUESNE score = a measure for determining the severity of osteoarthritis

In a 2016 study conducted by scientist Dr. Lugo and his colleagues, the goal was to determine the effectiveness of UC-II® collagen (at a dose of ONLY 40 mg) in improving the knee condition of people with osteoarthritis. After 6 months, comparing with the placebo group and the group that took the combination of glucosamine (1500 mg) and chondroitin (1200 mg), a significant reduction in the total WOMAC index was recorded (above, the effect comparison image). So, the effectiveness of the action of 1 small capsule per day is the same as the action of approximately 3 large tablets weighing almost 3 grams. In short, UC-II® collagen has proven to be an extremely effective substance of natural origin with a high safety profile.
Also, taking a nutritional supplement containing UC-II® collagen had a significant effect on changes in pain, stiffness and joint function.
What is the WOMAC Index?→ (engl. The Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Arthritis Index) is the test most often used to determine and assess the degree of progression of hip and knee osteoarthritis.
